6-17 SS Tyler Feathers

 Fly fisherman I hope you have a big stash of your favorite feathers for tying flies because the end is near. I’m not talking about an apocalypse, I’m talking about Aerosmith. I am David Sparks, this is sportsman spotlight and the craziness prevails.

 The Associated Press reported that fly fishing shops nationwide are at the center of the latest hair trend: feather extensions. Those of you who aren’t familiar with this fashion trend should go to YouTube and see reruns of this year’s American Idol where one of the judges was Stephen Tyler from Aerosmith. This guy dances to his own tune which includes feathers hanging in his hair. It made a huge fashion statement which isn’t so good for fly fishermen. Here is Stephen Jenkins from the Fly Fishers Place in Sisters,  Oregon. “Oh yes, we are about a year from being able to get them in here right now. It is 100% about people coming in here and buying feathers for their hair and earrings and all that. It’s good for us because were sold out but we can’t get them in stock anymore either. Whiting is a big fly tying company and they have just been making a time of money. It’s good for them but the only downfall for us is the fly tyers. They are getting very frustrated because they can’t get feathers because people are using them in their hair.
