4-27 SS Odd Turkey Hunt

 A turkey hunt that is not conducted in the traditional turkey hunt mode. Rob Hayfield has a great story about turkey hunting with his uncle.

 Turkey hunters usually dress in camo, hide in a blind, are dead silent etc. Not Rob Hayfield. Listen. “Me and my uncle we’re big, big-game hunters but we’re kind of new to turkey hunting. We don’t do the whole set up decoys and sit in blinds, we kind of like hunting them like big game, scoping and stalking and trying to get down in the middle of them without them knowing that we are there and getting lucky trying to be in the right spot at the right time. Our other friend gets decoys, blinds, and all that stuff. So he went down and set up in a place where I told him I had seen Toms the night before and me and my uncle went around the other side and we were waiting around for them where I had seen a couple of Toms and a few hens just down the hill from him about a couple of hundred yards. I sat down and started glassing them and there was a nice brush patch about half way from where he was to the turkeys and I thought we could get behind the brush. Everything worked out perfectly. Me and my uncle were just laying there in the brush and all of a sudden I look over to my right and two big Toms were coming our way and they were all strutted out about 50 yards from us. My uncle had his bow and I had my shotgun. My uncle drew his bow back and I was laying on my stomach with my shotgun and the bigger of the two was coming right at us.
