4-25 SS NW Pigs

Hunting for wild pigs in the great Northwest. They are here and their population is exploding.

Wild pigs have made their way into Oregon, Idaho and who knows where else. Who knows where they came from, but fish and game officials are asking us to hunt them. Here’s correspondent Tommy Allen:  “There are several different theories. Some people say they are coming up from California, from a wild pig herds in California, coming into the north central part of Oregon, and somehow they’re getting into southern Idaho, the Boise area, other people feel they are just releasing them on their land trying to make revenue from having people come out and harvest the pigs or they’re pigs that just got out there and got loose and started breeding because I guess every so many months they can have a litter, it’s unbelievable how much they can reproduce.” That’s funny because for years I lived in the Northwest and people would say don’t Californicate  Oregon, Washington, Idaho. But it looks like these pigs may be Californicating the Northwest. “They are.” How big are these pigs? “From what I have heard they are between 100 pounds all the way up to 350 pounds. They are living out above the Deschutes River and up in Jefferson County that’s in a desert area and it’s not very common for pigs to be in this area and they have to deal with harsh winters but their surviving and they are starting to thrive and they are taking off like crazy.
