Team Beef Runs Hawaii's Ragnar Relay

Recently one of the Team Beef groups participated in the Ragnar Relay and used the opportunity to share with fellow competitors the positive message of beef. Ione, Oregon, resident and Montana’s Running Ranchers relay team member Ed Rollins recently returned from event and says
Rollins: “It was incredibly difficult — definitely the toughest one I’ve done. And our most senior members the toughest one they’ve ever done — according to their legs at the end of the race. It was steep. It was windy. There were places it was really hot, places it was rainy. We saw just about every kind of weather except for snow.”
The team placed 14th overall and ran the 200ish mile course around an Hawaiian volcano in 30 hours and two minutes. The legs varied in distance and challenge level — anywhere from 3 to 12 miles. He continues
Rolllins: “A lot of people expected that we were more of a commercial team — like we were representing a business rather than 100,000s and thousands of family-owned business. So that was quite the opportunity to discuss the personal side of farming and ranching. We met some ranchers on the island that were really excited to see us. We heard from many of the race volunteers and directors that we are a very popular team. We really had a cause compared to most of the other teams that were mostly there for social purposes or the company sponsored their run.”
The samples of free beef jerky they shared might have played a role in their popularity as well.
