First Step in Repealing WOTUS

Two weeks ago the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee sent a clear message to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers that the proposed Waters of the U.S. rule is an expansion of federal jurisdiction that strips rights from private property owners.
Washington Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice President Jack Field shares more details
Field: “Long story short — this is the first step in the Committee before it will go through the process. Hopefully we will see something come out of the entire House. And then hopefully take quick action on the Senate side. I would anticipate we shouldn’t will not have a problem getting through entire chamber. We will have to do everything we can to urge bi-partisanship for this. It is important to remember, especially here in Washington state, that we have a delegated authority with our Department of Ecology and our state agency is already regulated surface water. We have a much better opportunity to work directly with the state agency than we do the federal government trying to regulate from over 2,500 miles away. So this is a huge step forward and could bring some clarity back to the issue of water quality and Waters of the U.S. if we can see this measure advance to the President’s desk and receive his signature.”
