Planter information for Northwest farmers. Farmers now in the middle of the spring growing season have made decisions they believe will allow them to achieve maximum efficiency and maximum yields. Luc van Herle, Kinze's Director of Global Sales and Service - says equipment decisions can have a big impact on agronomic performance. According to van Herle a very useful piece of equipment is its 4900 planter series - which he claims offers significant features that contribute to the grower's goals of productivity and precision during the planting season. He says the design is based on extensive research conducted with the farmers themselves. "There is nothing in the world like 1st hand data. We ask people use these things every day, what do you like about what you have now, what don't you like about it and if you were designing your next planter, ideally, what should it look like. We incorporated just about every single thing they asked for and then some."

Van Herle says the 4900 planter has a narrow transport front-fold frame design, 30-inch row spacing and a choice of 12, 16 or 24 rows - as well as additional features Kinze learned were important to the farmers. He says the toolbar, meter design and row units make the 4900 planter one complete system that provides greater accuracy at higher speeds - contributing to superior agronomic performance. Van Herle says farmers are taking a hard look at agronomic performance - and from a planting point of view - several factors come into play
