An annual tradition continues as History Colorado is looking to add Centennial Farms and Ranches to it's list. The Colorado Centennial Farms & Ranches program honors the role agriculture has played in the state's history, economic development, and modern-day well-being.

Erica Duvic Conservation Planner at History Colorado.

"To honor the farms and ranches across the state that have been in the same family, working farms and ranches for over a hundred years."

The program is a collaboration between History Colorado and the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

To earn recognition as a Colorado Centennial Farm or Ranch, a property

While other states honor century old working farms and ranches Duvic guesses not many states have as many as Colorado given how deeply rooted the state is in agriculture and settling the west.

Properties that have four or more well-maintained structures-that are at least 50 years old-are also eligible for a Historic Structures Award.

The deadline for applications is May 31, 2019. To apply or learn more, please visit www.historycolorado.org

The 2019 Centennial Farms & Ranches ceremony will be held at the Colorado State Fair in August. Over 500 farms and ranches have been recognized in nearly every Colorado County since the Centennial Program began in 1986.
