Grains Down on Friday, Livestock Prices Up

This is KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for February 6th. Ag commodity prices ended the day Friday mixed with grains down and livestock prices up. Here's USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the weekly Northwest Direct Feeder Cattle summery.

Sanders: "We had 2550 head of feeder cattle trade.Compared to last week, feeder cattle were $3 to $6 lower in a light test Trade slow with light to moderate demand as buyers and sellers adjust to the lower market complex. Calving is in full steam and due to the cold weather, private estimates are that death losses are 15 to 20 percent of the new calf crop. Feeder steers medium-large frames #1s current FOB price 850 pounds $118 to $119 in Washington. Feeder heifers medium-large frames, #1s current FOB 700 to 800 pounds $114 to $116 also in Washington."

Chicago May wheat ended Friday down 2 and 3/4, at 4-47 even. Chicago May Corn prices were down 1 and 3/4 to finish the day at 3-75 even.

Portland prices for Soft White Winter Wheat of ordinary protein were unchanged to down 4 and 1/4 ranging between 4-64 and 4-70 and 1/4. White Club Wheat of ordinary protein was unchanged to up 4 and 1/4 ranging between 4-84 to 4-95 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 % protein prices were down 3 cents ranging from 5-30 ½ to 5-45 ½. DNS Wheat with 14 % protein, prices were down 2 3/4, ranging from 7-01 1/4 to 7-31 and 1/4.

April Live Cattle finished the day up 25 cents, at 115.72 1/2. March Feeder cattle were up 2 and 1/2 cents at 123.77½. March class III milk was down 21 cents at 17-44.
