Weather Helps Grains End Monday Higher

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for June 23, 2015.
Weather helped grains markets end higher across the board on Monday. From the floor of the CME Group, Jack Scoville shares
Scoville: “Grain markets generally trading higher during the course of today. In fact every month of every market is trading higher. It’s been a weather market here today soybeans leading the way higher with wheat being a close second. Wheat markets being supported by reports of highly variable yields in the Great Plains and also increasing reports of some disease issues and some scab issues that threaten to rob even more of the yield moving forward. Most of the buying over in the wheat appears to be short-coverings. Chicago has been the leader to the upside. Of course the Mid-West has seen quite a bit of rain as well and that has impeded the harvest progress.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Monday up 13 cents at 5-06. September corn ended the day up 5 and 1/2 cents at 3-64 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 13 and 1/2 cents for August delivery of new crop ranging between 5-85 and 6-11. White Club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 8 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-06. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up a dime at mostly 7-41.
August live cattle were up $1.22 and half on Monday at 151.90. August Feeder cattle were up $2.35 at 225.77 and half. August class III milk was up 21 cents at 16-72.
