Cattle Futures End Friday Near or at Limit Down

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for April 20, 2015.
Wheat ended the day mostly unchanged while most live cattle contracts were limit down and feeder cattle prices were also near limit down at Friday’s close. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives an update on the region’s cattle market.
Sanders: “This week for direct cattle we had 1,600 head trade. Compared to last week, feeder cattle were steady in a light test. Trade was slow this week as most of the Northwest is current and feedlots are at capacity levels. Feeder steers medium to large frame #1s and #2s current FOB price 650 to 700 pounds $247 to $248 in Idaho Delivered price 800 to 900 pound steers $205 to $214 delivered into Idaho. Feeder heifers medium and large frame #1s and #2s current FOB price 600 to 650 $228 to $235 in Idaho.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Friday down 1 and 1/2 cents at 4-89 and 1/4. July corn ended the day up 3 and 1/2 cents at 3-86 and 3/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady at mostly 6-16 and 1/2. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady at mostly 7-86 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up a penny at mostly 6-17 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 32 and 1/4 to 42 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-77 and 3/4.
June live cattle were down $3 on Friday at 149 even. May Feeder cattle were down $4.47 and half at 208.52 and half. May class III milk was up a dime at 15-99.
