Grains End Tuesday Mixed

Grains End Tuesday Mixed

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 25, 2015.
Wheat saw pressure from better than expected crop ratings. Corn saw slight gains on early concerns of planting delays due to wet weather to the south. From the floor of the CME Group, Robert Chesler shares his observations of Tuesday’s markets.
Chesler: “Lots of excitement in the markets. Grains - let’s take a look. Wheat major correction — most of the work done in one day. Is it enough? Big question there. Funds in corn really scaling out of those short-positions. Trade talk on the floor and elsewhere has funds winding up net-long in the near future as they continue to turn that position around. Flirting all day during the trading day with that 100-day moving average. The big question in the final minutes is can corn in DECs close above that 100-day moving average for some bullish support.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Tuesday down 10 and 1/2 cents at 5-23 and 1/2. May corn ended the day up 3 cents at 3-93 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to down 10 and 1/2 cents at mostly 6-44 and 1/4. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady to down 10 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-84 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 9 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-75 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 8 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-91 and 3/4.
June live cattle were up a nickel on Tuesday at 153-05. May Feeder cattle were down 80 cents at 217-87 and half. May class III milk was up 26 cents at 15-25.
