Wheat Markets End Thursday Slightly Mixed

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 20, 2015.
Close on Thursday found the wheat markets mixed on both sides of unchanged and corn ended day lower. From the floor of the CME Group Scott Shellady shares his observations of Thursday’s markets.
Shellady: “Really dominated by the fact that the dollar came not all of the way back but roaring back and recoup a lot of its losses yesterday after the Fed announcement. We’re both sides of the market in basically all three — corn, beans and wheat. Wheat settled up 3/4 that was the winner of the day. Beans down 2 and 3/4 and corn down 1. It looks as though we are going to be in this period of white noise as we go towards this acreage report at the end of next week — or at the end of month March.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Thursday up 1 and 1/4 cents at 5-12. May corn ended the day down 1 and 1/4 cents at 3-73 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 1 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-38 and 1/2. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady to up 1 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-78 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 2 and 3/4 to 12 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-60 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 5 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-82 and 3/4.
April live cattle were up $1.42 and half on Thursday at 158-even. April Feeder cattle were up $1.72 and half at 216-02 and half. April class III milk was down 4 cents at 15-51.
