Friday Brings Rally to Grain Markets

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 2, 2015.
Friday was an up day for all grains as well as live and feeder cattle contracts. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders shares the regional cattle market update from Friday.
Sanders: “We had 5,050 head trade in the country. Compared to last week, feeder cattle were steady to 3 lower. Trade remained slow with moderate to good demand. Feeder steers medium to large frames #1s and #2s current FOB price 800 to 900 pounds $187 to $196 in Washington and Idaho. Holstein steers large frame #2s and #3s current FOB delivery 350 pounds at $235 FOB Washington. Feeder heifers current FOB price 750 to 800 pounds $186.50 to $189 FOB Washington.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 12 and 1/2 cents at 5-13. May corn ended the day up 4 and 3/4 cents at 3-93 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were up a dime to 13 and 1/4 cents ranging between 6-53 and 1/2 and 6-60. White club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 7 and 1/4 to 22 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-39 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 4 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-46.
April live cattle were up $1.90 on Friday at 151-70. April Feeder cattle were up $1.27 and half at 200-32 and half. April class III milk was up 38 cents at 15-87.
