I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for October 27, 2014.
Grain, cattle and milk futures ended Friday lower. Here with the region’s cattle market update is USDA grain and livestock reporter Greg Sanders.
Sanders: “Northwest direct cattle for this week we had over 2700 head trade compared to last week. Trade was slow with good demand as slaughter cattle in the Mid-West traded for $170 live at the end of the week. Feeder heifers current FOB delivery 550 to 600 pounds $256 to $265 in Idaho. 850 to 900 pound heifers $210 to $215 in Idaho and Washington also. Bred heifers on a per head basis on current FOB delivery 950 pounds at $2600 per head. They were three to six months bred and they were in Oregon.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Friday down 9 cents at 5-17 and 3/4. December corn ended the day down 6 and 3/4 cents at 3-53.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 9 cents at mostly 6-84 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were down 9 cents at mostly 9-26. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 11 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-46 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 4 cents at mostly 9-13.
December live cattle were down $2.20 on Friday at 166-90. November Feeder cattle were down $2.05 at 234-65. November class III milk was down 22 cents at 20-79.
