Up Day for Wheat Markets Monday

Up Day for Wheat Markets Monday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for October 14, 2014.
Both corn and soybeans ended the day higher on Monday and wheat seem to go along for the ride. From the floor of the CME Group Alexandra Lively shares her observations of Monday’s markets.
Lively: “The grain markets continued to slowly grind higher throughout the morning’s session, after double digit lower closes in corn and soybeans on Friday. Grain traders tell me that the friendly knee-jerk reaction to Friday’s WASDE Report was from USDA’s corn and soybean figures coming in below average trade estimates. The traders tell me that the reality is that these crops are going to be huge as the already record-high forecasts in September were once again increased to new record highs on Friday.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Monday up 6 and 3/4 cents at 5-05 and 1/4. December corn ended the day up 12 cents at 3-46.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were up 6 and 1/2 to 6 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-71 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were up 6 and 3/4 cents at mostly 9-17 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices up 6 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-38 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up a 1/2 of a cent to 5 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-99 and 3/4.
December live cattle were up $1.40 on Monday at 166-70. November Feeder cattle were up 95 cents at 240-15. November class III milk was down 32 cents at 21-56.
