Wheat Markets End Monday Lower

Wheat Markets End Monday Lower

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for August 26, 2014.
Grains were lower across the board on Monday under selling pressure. From the floor of the CME Group Joe Vaclavik shares his observations of Monday’s markets.
Vaclavik: “Grain markets here in Chicago were mostly lower. We had the corn was marginally lower, big break in the soybeans market and wheat market was also lower. The wheat market had been back and forth similarly to the corn market. This geopolitical situation in Ukraine and Russia I think is the big wild card. If something was to happen there — an escalation of tensions — I think there is some upside but until that happens or if that happens I think that we will going to be in a more digestive trade, similar to the corn market.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Monday down 9 and 1/2 cents at 5-42 and 1/2. September corn ended the day down 5 and 1/2 cents at 3-60-even.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 2 to 4 and 1/2 cents at mostly 6-93 and 1/4. White club wheat prices were steady to down 4 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-51 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 10 and 3/4 cents at mostly 7-21 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were mixed up a 1/4 of a cent to down 9 and 3/4 cents at mostly 7-96.
October live cattle were up $1.15 on Monday at 148-15. September Feeder cattle were up $2.37 and half at 213-27 and half. September class III milk was up 22 cents at 23-75.
