North Dakota State University Extension Agent, Chandra Langseth says there are some strategies farmers can utilize in reducing problems with herbicide tolerant weeds: "for farmers is important to remember that we cannot prevent weed resistance but we can delay it and we can manage it. This time of years we should be scouting our fields. What kind of weeds do we have out there now, especially when we start with our early-season weather. A pre-emergent herbicide or a post. After that application go out there and make sure you don't have any pockets that are still thriving. If you see an area in your field that you have already sprayed and it should be dead, you might ask what's going on. That may be an area that you want to mark, watch or go out there with a different herbicide.

It is strongly recommend that you read the full herbicide label for the full list of precautions and proper methods of use and application.
