Over the years, how many stories have we done regarding bees, collapsing bee populations and the desperate straits we are in to save these very important pollinators. The Monarch butterfly is another important pollinator and the American Farm Bureau Federation says farmers and ranchers have a unique opportunity to enhance pollinator and monarch health.

As concerns over the population decline of monarch butterflies continue, the American Farm Bureau Federation says farmers and ranchers can and should take steps to prevent any future burdensome regulations. AFBF congressional relations director Ryan Yates says farmers and ranchers have an opportunity to improve pollinator and monarch health, as monarchs migrate across rural America.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife service has been petitioned to list the monarch butterfly under the Endangered Species Act. Yates says farmers and ranchers are concerned about the effect the listing would have on the long-term recovery of the species and the potential regulatory burdens. He says this has prompted farmers and ranchers to seek ways to improve monarch health. He encourages all farmers and ranchers to get involved in the efforts.
