I have been saying for years how knowledgeable farmers have to be about so many different things. At the recent commodity classic that belief was underscored when I heard a pitch for a new product called Triva Pro. Listen to the dialogue. "It has three active ingredients and it is exciting because it has the combined three active ingredients with different modes of action. They all work together. We will be registered on three crops, soybeans corn and wheat. it has three key major benefits. One is broad spectrum disease control. That is important in a three-way mixed because it adds value in terms of resistance management. That's because all three control the major diseases of corn, soybeans and wheat. They are all different modes of action. For a fungus to become resistant, is a good way to think about it. If you think about A, B and C and A controls a bunch of things and B controls one or two things and C controls one or two things it was a different story than when you have three that all control the same thing. That is because it means that the fungus has to mutate to become resistant to all three of those so that is really tough. So if it becomes resistant to A, then B and C are still killing it.
