According to the U.S Drought Monitor 75.31 percent

of the state falls into the the abnormally dry to exceptional drought catagories compared to 6.16 percent a year

ago. Of those percentages, 50.80 percent falls into the D2-D4 categories.

In northern Colorado, green chop on first cutting hay is in full swing. Growers are readily

moving first cutting hay with little resistance to price from buyers. Growers

in the Lower Arkansas Valley are predominately putting 1st cutting hay up in

small squares. A few growers in the San Luis Valley and Southwest Colorado

Areas have 1st cutting down and should be in full swing by this weekend to early

next week.
