Hi everybody it’s time for your Land and Livestock Report, here on the Ag Information Network of the West-I’m Russell Nemetz.

For ranchers and those who haul our livestock to and from market there’s a new regulation in the works that could complicate things moving forward. And it’s the new electronic logging devices (ELDs) and hours of service for those who haul livestock.

During the recent U.S. Cattlemen’s Association Annual Meeting and Producers Forum in Billings, MT, I spoke with Linda Chezem, a cattle producer from Mooresville, IN and a member of the U.S.C.A.’s Transportation Committee.

“This provision would effectively delay the implementation of ELDs for livestock haulers by one year. Were it to be implemented, this regulation would be devastating for rural economies and the livestock industry.”

The new ELDs as written today are set to go into effect on December, 18, 2017.

That’s your Land and Livestock Report-I’m Russell Nemetz.
