Farmers and Ranchers Affected By NE Colorado Wildfire

More than 32,000 acres were burned in Logan and Phillips Counties of Northeastern Colorado in early March. Northeast Colorado Cattlemen's Association President Dan Firme says

Firme: "Well since the fires started on March 6th, we've had three weeks of non-stop relief effort in our community. Which has included anything form housing and shelter for people who lost their homes and possessions to people who lost feed and livestock. It's been a really good community effort as far as that goes with help coming from all over the country. Procuring hay for guys who lost summer grazing, and feed for the winter has been a pretty big chore, but we are getting it done."

He continues with how interested folks can donate to the relief efforts.

Firme: "There will be a continuing need of fence supplies of all size and shapes. If people want to donate, the best way to do that is through the Colorado Farm Bureau Foundation. They have a disaster relief fund set up and that is a great way to give. I believe most of that money is going to be coming back to our relief effort in NE Colorado."

Firme says that support from across the country has been inspiring.

Firme: "The ag community has backed our small community in a way that I thought would never be possible. It has just been truly amazing adventure the last few weeks."
