Goat Yoga, Anyone?

Goat Yoga, Anyone?

Earlier this month a cousin posted a video from 60 Second Video on my Facebook page about Goat Yoga and pitched me the idea of perhaps considering something similar though using calves or lambs.

Albany, Oregon farmer Lainey Morse has created Goat Yoga and there evidently is a huge pent up demand of city folks wanting to lay on mats doing yoga while goats wandering around -- and of yesterday afternoon there is a 1,700-person waiting list to participate. Here is an excerpt from the video of Morse

Morse: "The class is an hour — then the goats kind of lose their interest. They own the show. They are very mischievous. They will sit down next to you. They will nibble on the yoga mat, snuggle with you. There is something very therapeutic about goats. We hang out in the barn. We take goat selfies. We snuggle with the goats and this is really part of the therapy. People are desperate for something that is just pure and peaceful. They are like, 'Yes, give me some goats.' It is really hard to be in pain and sad when baby goats are jumping around you. You are just letting Goat."

If you are a livestock producer, have you consider teaming up with a yoga instructor to have calf yoga or perhaps lamb yoga? Might be a possible additional revenue stream to your farm or ranch.

You can learn more by going to goatyoga.net or going to Goat Yoga on Facebook.
