I respect a company that takes the initiative to remove a product because of potential problems and not wait until after the fact. I’m Susan Allen and when I return I’ll tell you about a recall that affects horse owners in specific western states. For you listeners in Northern California, Oregon and Nevada horse feed manufacturer Manna Pro Products has voluntarily recalled a single lot of Family Farm Complete Horse 10 feed packaged in forty pound bags. The feed was distributed to retailers in the states I mentioned between January 11 and January 21. It’s important to note that no Other Manna Pro or Family Farm products and no other lots of Complete Horse 10 are involved in this recall. If you think you’ve got a bag of this feed you can know for sure by checking the tag for the lot number found below the bar code. The recall product is lot number 1006 with the code MADE 010611 W printed on the white strip sewn across the bottom of the bag. If you didn’t get that written down just visit today’s story on Open Range at aginfo.net. Please don’t give your horse any of the feed, dispose of it and contact Manna Pro for a full refund. The feed might contains harmful levels of Rumensin that can be fatal to horses if fed at high levels. Kudos to Manna Pro who put the safety of horses ahead of their bottom line, a little different from the Chinese dog food recall
