Slow Speed Chase

In this high tech era when apples have become  something you hold to your ear and talk in rather than a horse treat it’s fun to come upon  stories that not only make me chuckle but remind me of how life might be if we all moved at a much slower pace, in the following case...  a trot. I’m Susan Allen yes this is Open Range back after the break. Recently, an email alert of a police chase caught my attention and when I read it involved a seventeen year old kid my heart went out to the parents, raising boys is tough today, I know, I had three, and the grey hair to prove it. Anyway like any kid trying to out run the law this boy soon discovered the odds weren’t in his favor especially when he was considerably out horse powered. Poor Levi Detweiler was probably thinking about a cute girl when he ran a stop sign in his horse and buggy and ignored the request by the police to pull over. Levi an Amish chap attempted what has been called a "low speed chase”  out trotting patrol cars in his horse and buggy for about a mile when he did like did like all  teen age boys have a tendency to do,  over correct on a sharp turn  sending the buggy and poor Amish horse into a ditch. Again, like many teenagers  I’ve known over the years Mr. Detweiler  has found him self in a whale of trouble,  charged with and MIP , over driving an animal, reckless endangerment, and failure to stop at a stop sign Thankfully the horse wasn’t hurt but CBSnew.com couldn’t help state in it’s recap “no word on whether the horse was a white bronco”.
