Trust me, you won’t be hearing the following story on Oprah and no, MSNBC won’t bother sending a reporter, odds are  it will be ignored by Michelle Obama’s  PR team even given her new passion for youth and nutrition, but here on Open Range I’m proud as heck to tell you about a revolutionary program developed by our Idaho ranchers to help feed the needy.  Beef Producers in Idaho are setting the bar high, very high  for the rest of us in the ag industry with new program called Beef Counts that unites the power of Idaho’s beef industry; the Idaho Beef Council, the Idaho Cattle Association, the Idaho Cattle Women’s  Council and the Agri-Beef Corporation with the common goal of keeping the  Idaho Food bank filled with nutritious beef. Thanks to their efforts, last week over three thousand pounds of beef  were delivered to the Idaho Food bank. This amazing industry accomplishment is the first of it’s kind and Agri- Beef is really grabbing the bull by the  horns and taking part in a mighty big way. Not only have they agreed to match Beef Counts donations from the Idaho Cattle Industry but they will present the food bank with a check for $50,000 dollars bringing to date their total foodbank donation to a  whopping $250,000 in the last five years. This food aide isn’t a one time deal, the goal of Beef Counts is to provide a consistent sustainable supply of protein rich beef that the foodbank can then distribute to it’s partners. While this amazing outreach is ignored by the mainstream media, the good folks in Idaho won’t forget that their  farmers and ranchers care deeply about communities and families in need.
