Livestock producer will lead  a recovery in US agriculture.  Feed lot operators get needed protection and good news if you happen to own  a white horse.  I’m Susan Allen , it’s  Fridays time for  Open Range Wrap Up. How about this...the projected recovery in US agriculture will be led by, no, not corn or soy... but livestock producers. Analysts predict the demand for beef pork and dairy will increase, in fact that’s what the University of Missouri researchers reported to congress just last week. Guess what pesky activists! Cattle feed lot operators are becoming proactive  thanks in part  to the Idaho Cattle Association who pushed the Senate Ag Affairs Committee to approve a measure that would restrict public access to manure management reports. Cattle producers thank your association for their hard work! Finally,  good news for white horse owners who  contend with many health issue like sun sensitivity (that leads to skin cancer), eye problems not to mention the fact that white horses are easily seen by predators. Well European researchers discovered that tiny predators, nasty horse and deer flies that drive horses and owners nuts would rather bite a brown or black horse then a white one. So  all that elbow grease to keep a white horse clean,  helps to keep the flies at bay . Have a great weekend .....remember “the west is not merely a place but a place in mind”. I’m Susan Allen
