Open Range Valentines Day
Valentines Day has become predictable I'd say it’s time to buck tradition for buckaroo styling. So how about an Open Range meal designed to melt the heart of cowgirl cupids. Naturally there’s beef, preferably filet mignon, a cut 53 percent of Americans associated with candlelight romance. The very reason for the Beef Check Off, I Heart Beef campaign urging beef lovers to tweet (isn’t that sweet) and tell the world why you love beef. We’ve got the cattle covered, now we need our ponies... that would be red wine with a horsey label, my favorite, 14 Hands Cab, or Horse Heaven Hills both named for the wild horses that once roamed the grass lands, of Eastern Washington. Why red roses when you can serve Mountain Rose potatoes from Idaho. Their moist creamy texture and wonderful sunset color takes you away to big sky country. The centerpiece, Jewel called it when she explained that her cowboy Ty Murrey’s idea of romance was a fist full of wildflowers, and women throughout America sighed. N grocery store bouquets ! Try Palouse wheat and dried lavender a la Ty. The finale, sweet and spicy Cowgirl Chocolates from Moscow Idaho with the slogan “a heart on fire burns with desire”. So get a real fire burning, (preferably with Tamarack,) serve it all up on a Pendleton blanket, for insurance add turquoise jewery and you created your own OpenRange Valentine adventure without even leaving the ranch!
