There's a new Life on the Range program wherein range monitoring is really getting some traction in Idaho through a multi-agency partnership that provides classroom training, field training and field assistance to do photo monitoring on BLM lands. By participating in the monitoring program, ranchers are encouraged to submit photo monitoring data to the BLM for their allotment files, to supplement whatever photos may exist that the BLM took. Now more than 100 ranchers are engaged in the range monitoring program which is a quantum leap from last year. One can truly say that it's gaining momentum! Here's a clip from their website lifeontherange.com. Life on the Range spokesperson Steve Stuebner: "It is sponsored by the Life on the Range resource commission, a state agency in Idaho so it is supported by the cattle and sheep ranchers in Idaho."
