All aboard Tom's mini train for a fun filled tour and learning experience around the farm of Lola Fitzgerald. Sheep, cattle, pigs, and chickens are all a part of the educational livestock display that kindergarten children from Valley school near Eden, Idaho got to learn about during their visit. "Today is our farm tour that I am putting on for the Jerome County Farm Bureau on behalf of a national grant that I won. I was selected to talk about an American farm bureau program called food link. Our link to food is all of the things that the farmers are growing. I have all the food links, I have chickens, goats, beef, dairy, plants, all kinds of vegetables, fish." That's right, fish. Idaho is number one in the nation in trout farming and at Lola's place the kids got to try their luck at catching fish. Harvested fish are eventually canned and donated to food banks. The kids were treated to a yogurt snack made from Idaho milk. While snacking Lola answered questions. Teacher, Caroline Lee says the hands on adventure works... the kids get it. "Lola set this up and invited the entire elementary. She is doing a grade at a time for half a day and she has gotten all kinds of activities. Fishing, planting, seeing all of her animals and the kids are learning where their food comes from."
