Wasps vs Bees

I recently got talking with Chad Dickinson from the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club and he articulated a great concern over the possibility of confusing wasps and hornets with honeybees. Honey bees that are so critical to agriculture given that they pollinate $30 billion worth of crops in the United States are dying off at extremely alarming rates in what is referred to as colony collapse disorder or just as colorful beemageddon. Scientists at the University of Maryland and the USDA have identified what they call a witch's brew of pesticides and fungicides that contaminate pollen bees are collecting. So getting back to Chad, he is fearful of mistaking the more aggressive wasps and hornets for honeybees and taking actions to eliminate them. "If I remember correctly, the much more aggressive, so-called to bee, and they really are not bees, they are hornets and wasps, they are much more aggressive on day? Yes. The wasps are like the evil cousins. Of course they are in no way related to but a lot of people think that these are wasps or vice versa. They may think that they have a being asked in the wall of their house when in fact it's a wasps' nest. They really have no purpose, they don't do anything for us, they are meat eaters for the most part and in the fall when it is really cool they will actually go into a bee's nest and rob it of protein and kill the bees and they can kill a whole hive. Does your website show the distinction between wasps, hornets and bees? Yes there is information that shows the differences. Website www.idabees.org
