Selected by the agri-business committee of the Nampa/Caldwell chambers of commerce is the Loren McIntyre Family who live off Riverside drive in Canyon county. It's a family affair. We had an opportunity to hear a lot about the history of the farm from Loren. "Well a little bit before the turn of the 20th century. My grandfather and several of his brothers came to Nampa in search of work. They were Scottish immigrants and they came out to build mainly the lower embankment or the lower dam of Lake Lowell and the canals. They had the opportunity to homestead some land. And this particular farm that we have been on for many years was my great Uncle Sam's, and my father, after World War II purchased it from him.

I started farming full time in 1974, along with my younger brother and my mother, and a little help from some very kind neighbors. In 1978, married my wife Kathy. And we have been working at this ever since 1978 full time. Then our sons were old enough and we formed the MacIntyre Farms Inc.

From that time on, we have really grown in livestock and poultry. I work constantly learning on chicken and turkey management.
