Roger Batt heads up the noxious and invasive weed education and control campaign in the state of Idaho and talks about some of the many people and institutions who are part of a massive team of weed eradicationists. “We have 42 County weed superintendents who are in charge of the 44 counties. These weed departments are entities where people can go to for technical expertise and for them to learn more about noxious weed ID and how to control and manage these species.” Like Dave Wenk in Boundary County who offers advice and other incentives to land owners. “The neighborhood weed co-op program. Does anybody know what that is? It is where you can be reimbursed by the County up to $500 for controlling your noxious weeds on your property.” Biological control methods with introduction of certain bugs to noxious weed infestations has worked well in Idaho. So too, have selective spraying applications from the air and on foot. There is a little pocketbook with photos of all of the noxious weeds in Idaho available at IdahoWeedAwareness.com Carry it with you and be aware. Noxious, invasive weeds are everywhere you look.
