With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. May 24th in Moses Lake will be a glimpse of the future with the first-ever planting of Industrial Hemp in Washington state ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "I think we forgot one important word there, for the listeners, and that is that it is the first "legal" industrial hemp planting in about 90 years in Washington and so excited about that."

Joy Beckerman, with Hemp Ace International, says it will be a day of exposure to this new opportunity ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "Unlike marijuana, our cousin, industrial hemp actually does have federal law in place for agricultural pilot programs or agricultural pilot research plots and that's what we're doing here, but it also allows for marketing which is commercializing it."

Beckerman says it's a full day of sharing from those in-the-know ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "So, we will have Hemp Logic there, Hemp Ace International, my company. I'll be able to teach about federal law. And, Washington State Department of Agriculture Industrial Hemp Research Coordinator, Emily Febles will be there, of course, to teach the farmers about the research program and our licensing requirements."

Growing specialists will also be on hand ...

JOY BECKERMAN ... "We will have globally renown Industrial Hemp Agrologists, the folks who have been there since the beginning, will be teaching us about all of their hard lessons-learned on how to cultivate hemp, farm it, store it, harvest it, the equipment needed, the requirements for inputs and water, all of those things."

The cost is $200, $125 of which can be used toward a farmer or business membership. For more information and pre-registration, go to lets farm hemp dot com.
