Farmers Dealing with Uncertainty

The start of 2019 is bringing more uncertainty for farmers and ranchers.

Ask Shane Hanes, Chairman of the Ag and Rural Bankers Committee for the American Bankers Association, and he'll tell you farm bankers are nervous right now.

He and others in the ABA have been chatting with a variety of farmers across the country, both those who enjoyed a good year and those who did not have a good year.

So, what kind of options exist for farmers and banks at this stage of the game?

American Farm Bureau Federation policy experts gave an overview of 2019 issues for farmers.

They say the diverse impacts of tariffs, the outcomes of free trade agreement negotiations and the future of relations with China are all critical for the future of ag exports and the growth of American agriculture.
