Ranchers are standing up to fight hunger...

In Idaho, the beef industry stands as the state's second largest agricultural industry.

In August, the Idaho Beef Council is one of several partners kicking off a month-long "Beef Counts" campaign to benefit The Idaho Foodbank to help put beef on the tables of the state's food-insecure.

T.K. Kuwahara with the Idaho Beef Council explains...

"The events draw attention to the needs of the Idaho's hungry and the families that rely on The Idaho Foodbank for crucial meals. During the entire month of August, Albertsons and Agri Beef will donate up to $20,000 based on purchases of Double R Ranch Beef at southern Albertsons stores.

The Beef Counts program is a great way to give back to the community.

A growing body of research shows the value of beef in the daily diet of children, adults and athletes. One 3 ounce cooked serving of beef provides 25 grams of protein, roughly 50% of the Daily Value, as well as 10 essential nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and B vitamins. For low-income populations and The Idaho Foodbank recipients, the nutrients found in beef are a highly concentrated way to support good health."

The Beef Counts campaign will continue thru the month of August and partners with Albertsons grocery stores and well as Agri Beef to draw attention to the needs of people who are hungry and the families that rely on The Idaho Foodbank for crucial meals.
