Farmers Fear Trade War

It sure sounds like a trade war...

The European Union's plan to impose tariffs on roughly $3.3 billion worth of American goods will go into effect in early July.

For its part, Mexico also imposed a series of tariffs against US exports to its market valued at $3 billion... These hikes will hit farmers hard, and they'll hike the price of products including pork, apples, potatoes, bourbon as well as different types of cheese.

Ted and Rhonda Rogers have been farming for the best part of 50 years.... They are not optimistic about the short term outlook.

"If it gets any harder, I'll just quit. We won't sell the farm, but we will quit farming."

He went on to say, the Farm income is already down and it's been a real struggle to keep everything going. He also said it's been extremely frustrating to have the President taking aim at our trading partners, who buy so much agricultural products they put on the market.

Rhonda, says, she thinks it's American farmers who will pay the price of a trade war.
