Examining Production Efficiences

Have you recently assessed your cost of production and consider possible improvements to efficiencies on your farming operation? Measure Drone as a Service Company Vice President of Ag Robert Blair explains why ag producers should consider using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs in their operation.

Blair: "Right now is the time that commodity prices are low. It's not the greatest climate out there for farming but what can producers control? They can control their costs and utilizing precision agriculture and UAVs can help them go down that route.

Blair continues with a topic he hopes will be discussed in determining the details of next Farm Bill.

One of the things I've looking at regarding USDA for the next Farm Bill is for crop insurance. If growers are utilizing precision agriculture and UAVs on their operation — they have less risk than those who are not implementing it. Why are we not incentivizing them and giving them a premium reduction on their crop insurance. So with Farm Bill talks coming up — I think that is one that we need to take a look at as well along with utilizing UAVs to determine where damage is after storms instead of guessing where in a field and throwing a hat."
