USPB Trade Mission Trips to Myanmar and Cambodia

Two of the newest target markets for U.S. potatoes is Myanmar and Cambodia. Recently the United States Potato Board conducted a trade mission to both countries to meet with prospective importers and customers. USPB Chief Marketing Officer John Toaspern shares more details
Toaspern: “We were mainly focused on frozen potato products but also dehydrated potato products. We had a very good reception on both of those products in both markets. From the perspective of food service usage at restaurants and at hotels. There is a lot of hotels in these markets and that dominates at the upper end of the food service spectrum. There is a growing number of quick service restaurants as well as local chains as well as more and more international chains. We were able to meet with them. We were able to provide the Why Buy U.S. message that we convey in all of our markets as to the higher profitability, better quality, better taste, greater reliability due to the USDA grades and standards of the U.S. product. So that they understood that to get off on the right foot they need to bringing in U.S. product and using U.S. product and that will be beneficial for them in the long run.”
