Grow Rural Education Grants Available

America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education is back for a fourth year of partnering with farmers to nominate their local public school district to compete for a grant of $10,000 or $25,000 to enhance math and science education. Monsanto’s Customer Advocacy Manager Heather Wolfe shares more details
Wolfe: “So schools can go out and ask the farmers that they know to nominate their district. We actually have some tools on the website for schools to do that. We have some banners they can use electronically on either their website, on their Facebook or Twitter accounts. We also have copy for newsletters if they want to send it home to students’ parents. So they can definitely ask for farmers’ nominations. And if farmers hear it, the nomination process is pretty easy. They just fill out a short nomination form at growruraleducation.com. Again it is a short nomination form with a few questions and then they let us know which school district they’d like to nominate. We just need farmers to do that by April first.”
Eligible Idaho counties include: Latah, Nez Perce, Canyon,Owyhee, Gooding, Jerome, Minidoka, and Twin Falls. In Oregon: Morrow, Umatilla and Malheur. And in Washington include: Benton, Yakima, Spokane, Adams, Franklin, Grant, Walla Walla, and Whitman.“
