Benefits of Upgrading a Sprinkler Package

Welcome to the Irrigation Minute brought to you by Reinke. Director of Regional Sales at Reinke Ken Goodall says that sprinklers are one of the most important components of an irrigation system, as they are crucial in ensuring the best water application pattern possible.
Goodall: “Sprinkler manufacturers like Nelson, Senninger and Komet have done a fantastic job of creating and developing new devices so that an option for every field and every field can be irrigated in an even manner. Every system is unique. Things such as flow, pressure, soil type, elevation, crop type — all of that has to be taken into account when you are developing a sprinkler package for an irrigation system. You take all that information, we run it through a computer program and we kick out a sprinkler package based on inputs that we just discussed that is specific and unique to each irrigation system produced.”
He adds that placing sprinklers on drops can be an excellent choice for systems on low lying crops or for areas that are typically windy during the growing season. Drops also help eliminate wind drift and evaporation from heat and wind.
