Farm and Ranch April 22, 2005 The Second series of Potato and Tree Fruit Risk Management, Everything You Ever Needed to Know about PACA workshops are scheduled for next week. The popular seminars are presented by expert attorneys from Rynn & Janowski who cover what growers, packers, shippers and produce brokers should know about the Perishable Agriculture Commodities Act to protect their business. By popular demand, a second seminar is being held in Wenatchee Wednesday, April 27th at the Wenatchee Convention Center. A Mt. Vernon seminar will be at the CottonTree Conference Center on Thursday, April 28th. The seminars funded by a grant from USDA's Risk Management Agency, run a full day and lunch is included in the $30 fee. Governor Christine Gregoire got to enjoy potatoes as well as wine at the recent annual Taste Washington event held in Seattle. The event features Washington wines paired with menu items from restaurants and culinary schools. The Washington State Potato Commission partnered with the Heart of Washington and Washington State University's School of Hospitality Business Management. Culinary educator chef Gene Fritz created several mashed potato recipes served in small martini glasses with the Potato Commission logo. Governor Gregoire indicated she was a fan of the cuisine and the partnership. That's the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report. Brought to you in part by the Washington State Potato Commission.
