The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture specializes in providing education resources about agriculture to students and teachers.

So while young students sleep in, dozens of their teachers will be taking a course offered by the foundation. The Food Fiber and Agriculture Institute course always fills up with teachers who hope to learn more about agriculture over the summer.

"The purpose is to show teachers how to incorporate agricultural topics into their math, science, social studies, and their other Common Core subjects. They can earn continuing education units or graduate level credits depending on what they need for their license recertification or their pay scale.

That's Jennifer Scharpe Executive Director of the Colorado Foundation for Agriculture.

"Teachers constantly tell us that this is one of the best summer courses that they attend

The teachers also job shadow farmers, ranchers or other working agriculture professional to get hands on experience.

The local teachers are clearly in good hands as 5 of the Colorado Foundation teachers were recognized for their excellence in teaching at the annual National Foundation for Agriculture Conference.
