Guidestone Colorado, the non profit in Salida that focuses on agricultural education on farms, gardens and ranches is offering a list of camps for students when school ends for the year.

Guidestone says its Farmhands curricula focuses on the art and skill of growing and raising food through the lens of both cultural history and current farming and ranching practices.

Leah Capezio Community Outreach Coordinator told Colorado Ag Today:

"One of our main goals is to preserve agriculture in our area.

All of the rams are grounded in hands-on learning opportunities and cultivate exploration, inquiry, direct experience and fun! Program offerings are designed to meet participants' interest and skill level, no matter what age, and collectively provide the awareness, understanding and agricultural skills to grow healthy, local food for a bountiful agricultural future.

Capezio says some young campers come from farming and ranching back grounds and some have no experience on the farm so it's a nice opportunity for some kids to mentor others.
