Every month the Colorado Department of Agriculture highlights one locally produced or grown item as part of its Colorado Proud Program.

This month Spokesperson Wendy White says spring asparagus is the featured vegetable.

"The farmers markets are starting to open and asparagus is one of the first early season crops that you'll find at the farmers markets and grocery stores and on restaurant menus. Enjoy this early season crop."

And if you check out the Colorado Proud website you will see that last month the featured item was pizza dough with locally grown wheat flour.

And now that the Colorado Farmers Markets are beginning to open the statewide list is on the Colorado Proud website. White says by the end of the month they will have the 2018 Farm Fresh Directory available. That lists all the markets, u-pick farms, road-side stands wineries across the state.
