Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture, Don Brown says it's time for the agriculture producers to let Colorado's congressional delegations know how trade wars could make an already vulnerable industry the victims of international disputes.

"I'd like them to make apparent that we don't want to become the subject of tariff wars. I think everybody has to pay a price and play their part yet I don't think we should become the focus of it. We're struggling right now economically."

In a written editorial Brown points to the group www.farmersforfreetrade.com for local producers who want to get more involved.

Agriculture - one of Colorado's top economic drivers - creates about 173 million jobs in the state. Over 100 countries purchase food and agricultural products from Colorado. Brown says the North American Free Trade Agreement is vital for the state.
