With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. Wine grape growers and winemakers from across Washington state are invited to the Washington Advancements in Viticulture and Enology, or WAVE seminars to learn about the latest in home-grown research.

The Washington State Wine Commission and Washington State University are sponsoring the seminars, beginning with shorter WAVE-x seminars ...

HANSEN ... "And so, on March 15th, we have a Wave X that's dedicated to talk about grape vine viruses, leaf roll virus, red blotch virus. And, the focus of that seminar will be how to manage these viral diseases, how do we keep our vineyards healthy, what has research showed us, how do we use those tools. And, then even sort of a grower interactive discussions, what's worked, what hasn't worked, and how can we model our management strategies for the future."

And, Research Program Manager, Melissa Hansen says that first WAVE-x is being held at WSU's Wine Science Center in Richland and the target audience is growers ...

HANSEN ... "And then, a couple weeks later, March 30th up at Lake Chelan, the Wine Commission and Washington State University, we're teaming up with the Lake Chelan Wine Alliance, and that's the ADA grower and winemaker group up there. So, that, it will have a grower focus and a winery focus."

Hansen says the Chelan seminar will be at Tsillan Cellars and is intended for everyone in the wine industry. She says space is limited and registration is now open. Go to washingtonwine.org to register or for more information.

Listen tomorrow when Hansen talks about the full-day WAVE seminar in Prosser.
