Amateur and Professional photographers are invited to enter the 20th Annual “Colorado…it’s AgriCultural” Photo Contest.

Photos entries will be judged in six subject areas: Colorado cuisine, crops, livestock, people, open professional and wildlife in agriculture.

Travis Harvey is a software engineer for Lockheed Martin. Harvey grew up on a farm in Monte Vista and likes to go back often and take photos. He is an amature photographer who won the grand prize last year.

“And this one happened to be a sunset picture with a sprinkler running over a potato field that’s partly grown the rows haven’t closed up yet. I thought it felt like a good representation of the growing process, with the colors of the mountains and the valley.

His advice to other contestants: be different, stand out get a photo with a perspective that might surprise people.

Entries must be submitted to the Colorado Department of Agriculture via e-mail with an official entry form by December 31, 2017. All photographs must be taken in the 2017 calendar year and must relate to Colorado agriculture in some way.

Details on how to enter and past winning photos are posted at coloradoagriculture.com/aginsights.
