Center for Produce Safety Symposium Will Be Held June 20-21 in Denver

For the first time ever the Center for Produce Safety will be bring its annual Research Symposium to Colorado. It will be held on June 20th through the 21st at the Denver Hyatt Regency. Colorado Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association President Robert Sakata shares more about this exciting opportunity for the state's produce growers

Sakata: "The Center for Produce Safety supports research. So industry provides the dollars and then the Center then decides the specific areas of research they want to do with regards to food safety and sponsor that research throughout — there are researchers from across the world — but focused mainly in the United States that are doing food safety research. So this symposium is that main effort they have to get all that information from all this research and pass it on to all us growing fruits and vegetables. We are really excited to have it here in Denver."

The Colorado Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association is providing scholarships that will be available to its members to attend as Sakata explains

Sakata: "In order to get Colorado growers to go is that the Colorado Fruits and Vegetable Growers Association is offering a scholarship. So we'll pay for $340 worth of the registration fees. Then anybody who is traveling farther than 80 miles to attend the conference, we will pay for $140 per night lodging at the conference's hotel. All a person has to do is to go to our website coloradoproduce.org and register for the scholarship. Only requirement is after the program, that they have to be willing to make a presentation of what they learned back in their hometown."

If growers register for the conference prior to May first, they will save $100 on the registration.
