Accepting Applications for Colorado's Leopold Conservation Award

Accepting Applications for Colorado's Leopold Conservation Award

Applications are now being accepted for the Leopold Conservation Award which honors Colorado ag landowners who demonstrate outstanding stewardship and management of natural resources. Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust External Relations Coordinator Maggie Hanna
Hanna: “The Leopold Conservation Award recognizes landowners and land managers that are working and managing lands with a high level of conservation ethic. One of the exciting things this year, is that we have created a nomination process somewhat separate from the application process. So anyone can self-nominate and complete the nomination, and submit it by February 27th.”
Hanna continues with the reasoning behind the nomination process in addition to the self nomination.
Hanna: “Our hope is that we raise the level of prestige of the Leopold Conservation Award here in Colorado by allowing neighbors to recognize neighbors. It means a lot when someone can see over the fence, all the work you are doing and know how valuable it is to your operation but the community at-large.”
Award applicants are judged based on their demonstration of improved resource conditions, innovation, long-term commitment to stewardship, sustained economic viability, community and civic leadership, and multiple use benefits.
